National Gateway – Arlington, Virginia
christopher provided civil design, masterplanning and stormwater management services, construction stakeout and boundary surveys for National Gateway, the Arlington portion of Potomac Yard. National Gateway incorporates 1.5 million square feet of office space in an urban town center environment with over 200,000 square feet of restaurants, services and retail shopping. National Gateway also includes Center Park, an outdoor retail anchor heavily landscaped with fountains, sculptures and seating to encourage outdoor dining and entertainment. christopher also coordinated the 4.1 site planning, prepared final construction documents, and completed the Phase Development Site Plan (PDSP) for the site, which included corridor design for the light rail system, pedestrian circulation, road networks and utility design. The process also required christopher’s assistance in drafting the complex proffer condition package and engineering expertise during citizen meetings, special project committees (transportation, open space, urban design), and city/county meetings.
National Gateway also includes One and Two Potomac Yard, which houses the EPA headquarters and earned a Gold LEED certification. christopher worked directly with the EPA on One and Two Potomac Yard to create a sustainable design, providing engineering, surveying and project coordination. Two luxury high-rise residential complexes, Camden at Potomac Yard and the Eclipse on Center Park, are also part of National Gateway. christopher provided civil site design, master planning, construction stakeout and stormwater management on both of these residential projects.
