One and Two Potomac Yard – Arlington, Virginia
christopher consultants is proud to have been part of a prestigious design team for One and Two Potomac Yard. Located within an urban area in the Crystal City neighborhood, our design team was continuously challenged to address intricate site constraints through design, public participatory meetings and coordination with public officials. Before completion, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) decided to relocate to one of the 12-story buildings. The design team worked closely with the EPA in order to create a sustainable design which would meet the highest environmental standards and the building and site design earned a Gold LEED certification. Major highlights of the engineering site design for One and Two Potomac Yard included an underground BMP vault system, utility relocation, design of a new street, modification of the existing road layout for Crystal Drive and planning for a future light rail system along the property frontage. christopher worked under Crescent Resources and worked closely with the rest of the design team on this project.
Completed in 2006, One and Two Potomac Yard features 311,000 square feet of building space including 12 floors above-grade and two below. The buildings include 415 parking spaces: two levels below ground and three levels above. One and Two Potomac Yard’s Crystal City location places it conveniently near National Airport, Metrorail, Virginia Rail Express, Amtrak, The George Washington Parkway and the Jefferson Davis Highway.
