Lorton VRE Station – Lorton, Virginia
christopher provided extensive coordination, construction administration assistance, construction stakeout services and permitting services for this unique project to develop the Lorton VRE Station. Development of the Lorton VRE Station involved a public private partnership involving VRE, Fairfax County and RF&P Railroad. This project involved the development of a 262-acre site into a commuter parking lot for access to one of the first VRE stations in Lorton, VA. christopher provided services for all three key parties involved, not only to reach consensus on layout and design, but on permitting, approvals and construction. Challenges for the Lorton VRE project included complex wetland permitting and tunneling operations under live CSX rail facilities while maintaining rail services.
